The weekend wanderlust.

A summary of this week’s victories, lessons and roustabouts. This week was busy and challenging. So, we didn’t go out to the Jamaican Festival in Odaiba like we planned. We didn’t hang out with friends for brunch. We didn’t go to playdates or even go outside for too long. This weekend we engaged in some serious self-care. For the boy, that meant blowing bubbles on the patio. Me, I took several naps. We went to the school’s graduation today and shortly after it was over, we went home. Sometimes you just need to love on the ones you love. Advertisements

Here and there: The art of being busy.

I’m a busy person. I work 40+ hours a week as the school counselor to a group of wonderful young ladies. I run this blog, which is often overlooked and poorly managed, but I enjoy it. I’m working on a business (which details will be revealed sooner than you think) and working with/developing my team and having business meetings until 1am because they are on the other side of the world. And on top of all that I’m a mom/cook/housekeeper to a little boy who thinks (and is often correct) that my world revolves around him and his needs….

The weekend wanderlust.

A summary of this week’s victories, lessons and roustabouts. This weekend we met up with a friend from London who was visiting Tokyo for the week. We decided to explore Odaiba and entertain the children for a few hours. After eating lunch, we found ourselves at Lego Land Discovery Center and spent way too much time there. Afterward we went walking on the dock and found hover boards bubbles. My sense of adventure is halted at the risk of losing my balance and breaking my neck, so I didn’t try it. It was a very long and exhausting day chasing…

Here and there: The cure.

I feel most at peace when I am in or near water. So my son’s affinity for swimming only makes sense. We both are on our way to an upswing with this adjustment. After being here for 9 months now, we are learning how to navigate not only the city but our emotions better. Learning how to understand when we are just tired or stressed and take some time for ourselves. But we are both longing for the water again. It has the power to cleanse us. I read a quote by Isak Dinesen that said “The cure for…

The weekend wanderlust.

A summary of this week’s victories, lessons and roustabouts. The last few weeks have been busy and I’ve been an uncharacteristically social butterfly. We’ve gone to barbecues at the Air Force Base, entertained friends traveling through Tokyo, and even met up with local ones and had sleep overs. I’m utterly exhausted. So, this weekend I planned for us to be lazy and not get out at all. Saturday was amazing. I barely had clothes on and took two of the most glorious naps known to man. It was needed and absolutely welcomed. However, this bliss was short-lived because on Sunday the boy had…

Saving Money with Groupon Coupons

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine. I love saving money when I travel. I’ve used Groupon for everything from saving money on my trips to Target or a mani-pedi, to learning how to trapeze and going skydiving. It has really helped me save money on my adventures both near and far. Actually, my first trip with the boy overseas was, in fact, a Groupon deal. We went to China for 10 days. We visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou and stayed at some very amazing hotels. We visited the Great Wall, Imperial Palace, the Beijing Zoo, and ate to our…
